The action is set in Butterbrook Academy school library, Santa’s Workshop in the North Pole, Mother Nature’s Woodland Realm and Jinx Tower, a skyscraper in America.

Casey hates their surname, they don’t even like Christmas – all the singing and silliness and sparkles. Casey likes reading their science books and nature rambles and sensible stuff like that. So, when an elf called Trixie Merrymuffin appears in their school library looking for help to resue her boss, Casey thinks it must be an hallucination – surely the biggest encyclopaedia has fallen off the shelf and knocked them unconscious. But soon it becomes clear it isn’t a dream and the elf is on a quest to rescue Santa Claus from the clutches of the evil corporate businesswoman, Vespertilia Jinx, who wants to take over Christmas. With a little persuasion, Casey reluctantly joins Trixie and the adventure of a lifetime begins; an adventure that involves a mad genetic scientist, a naïve talking penguin, Mother Nature, a cheeky tree goblin, unicorns, dinosaurs and, of course, Santa Claus.
